The House (2017) – 3.5 stars

As far as comedies go, this has most of the elements you want. The premise is 2 parents in over their heads, trying to send their girl to her dream Ivy league college (to further her liberal indoctrination without achieving any real life skills) without a scholarship. So their down and out friend hatches a scheme to open a casino with them at his house that his wife just left him alone in. What could possibly go wrong? And the answer to that provides most of the humor, along with a pissant town council chair who deserves to be punched in the face just for speaking, and a small town cop trying to play his big fish in the little pond role. There was a gratuitously violent scene that we could have done without, but otherwise the flick was good for plenty of laughs and had a decent plot for a comedy.
